In the spirit of Independence Day, we though we’d revisit an invitation we did for Jeremy, a Marine, and his lovely wife, Rachel. They are celebrating their 7th anniversary this year—along with their two beautiful children. Thank you to those who make our country the Land of the Free!

We’re big fans of using vintage postage stamps for wedding invitation suites as they really put the finishing touch on an envelope. There’s no doubt that receiving and invitation with extra attention to details like this make it feel extra special. But with stamp designs dating to 1847, how do you easily view and create a coordinating set? Don’t forget the added complication of making sure the postage stamp rate adds up to the correct first class rate (0.49 for letters under an ounce and 0.70 for letters over an ounce (or 1 oz letters that are thick or square).

We’re spending today doing some final hand-cutting on these beautiful, silkscreened cork wedding rehearsal dinner invitations. Whenever we get the chance to work with materials other than paper, we always get a little excited! This couple was having their rehearsal dinner at a winery in Long Island, New York, so it was only fitting that it be printed on cork. The ship in a (wine) bottle was also a fun way to tie in the locations. Who wouldn’t enjoy receiving one of these?
This week we’re doing quite a bit of wedding invitation assembly for our custom brides. Cutting, wrapping and tying satin ribbon, adhering postage, cutting tags and more! Once the invitation design is completed, we’re only halfway there to getting these beauties in the mail and in the hands of anticipating guests. If you’ve spent some time researching all the types of printing available, you’ve no doubt come across the beauty of letterpress printing. Letterpress is one of the oldest forms of printing, is still done largely by hand and printed one card at a time. As we become more and more e-this and i-that, it’s this slow process and tactile quality that gives it such appeal. You’ll know your holding a piece of true artwork when you run your fingers over a letterpressed card as its handsome indentations into the paper reflect the hand nature of the process.
